HOUSTON (AP) — Investigators are trying to determine who fatally shot a suspected drunken driver after the man allegedly killed two brothers who were helping their father push the family's pickup truck down a rural Houston-area road.

Neighbors say they heard gunshots minutes after the Friday night crash that killed 12-year-old David Barajas and his 11-year-old brother, Caleb. Police found the car's driver, Jose Banda, shot in the head. He later died.

The brothers were buried Wednesday and remembered at a funeral service as being inseparable siblings who loved football.

The Brazoria County sheriff's office says investigators don't have "formal suspects" in the case but that they haven't interviewed the boys' father, David Barajas Sr. or mother, Cindy Barajas who was in the pickup truck. The boys' father was injured in the crash.
