Judge supports injunction against HealthBridge

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — A federal judge in Connecticut is supporting an injunction filed by the National Labor Relations Board that would temporarily halt cuts at five nursing homes.

About 600 workers at the nursing homes went on strike in July to protest what they said were labor concessions imposed by the company that owns the nursing homes, Parsippany, N.J.-based HealthBridge/Care One.

The NLRB filed the injunction asking for the workers to be allowed to return to work and that the company provide for back pay and bargaining.

John Cotter, the officer in charge of the NLRB in Connecticut, says Judge Robert Chatigny indicated Tuesday he intends to grant the injunction but is considering a stay being submitted by the employer.

A spokeswoman for Healthbridge did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
