WESTMINSTER, Md. (AP) — A group of three medical clinics in Maryland gave out more than 100 free flu shots during a weekend event.

U.N.I. Urgent Care clinics in Westminster, Frederick and Hagerstown gave out the free shots on Saturday. Approximately 125 people got the shots.

Federal health officials said earlier this week that flu season in the U.S. is off to its earliest start in nearly a decade. Higher-than-normal reports of flu have come in from Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee and Texas. An uptick like this usually doesn't happen until after Christmas.
