MARLBOROUGH, Conn. (AP) — Connecticut environmental officials say an East Hartford man hunting for deer with friends in the Salmon River State Forest suffered an apparent heart attack and has died.

A spokesman for the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection says state police received a call at about 7 a.m. Saturday and responded to a medical emergency about a half-mile into the state park in Marlborough.

The name of the 43-year-old man is being withheld until his family is notified.
