PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — The Rhode Island Department of Health has suspended the license of a nursing assistant it says sexually assaulted a female patient at Rhode Island Hospital in September.

The department said Friday it has indefinitely suspended the nursing assistant license of Nathaniel Rodrigues effective immediately. The suspension order says Rodrigues on or about Sept. 24 sexually assaulted a female patient. It says he worked at the hospital at the time.

A Rhode Island Hospital spokesperson said only that Rodrigues was no longer employed there as of Oct. 3

A spokeswoman for the state health department did not immediately return a message. A telephone number for Rodrigues could not immediately be found.

The suspension order says Rodrigues may request a hearing in writing.
