COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Members of a review board say Columbus police officers acted within policy last year when they shot a suspect while investigating a string of pizza delivery robberies.
Columbus police announced the board's findings Friday. The panel consists of commanders at the police department, who review firearms use by officers.
The shooting came on Dec. 11, 2011, after two men confronted a police officer who was posing as a pizza delivery driver.
A delivery driver who had believed he was being set up for a robbery had flagged down the officers. At the time, police had been looking into reports of drivers being robbed of food and cash, and one driver who had been shot.
Police shot one suspect during the confrontation. He survived, and the other was arrested without incident.
