Deputies look for shooter of Ohio woman, grandson

SALEM, Ohio (AP) — Deputies in northeast Ohio are still searching for the person who killed a woman and shot her 5-year-old grandson in the head earlier this week.

The Columbiana Sheriff's Office said another child came home from school and found the scene Monday in Salem, near Youngstown.

They say 43-year-old Melinda Todd was fatally shot and her grandson was wounded. Sheriff Raymond Stone said the boy was in a medically induced coma following brain surgery at an Akron hospital.

The (Youngtown) Vindicator (http://bit.ly/SzyVzG ) reports that the mother of the 5-year-old boy is serving 18 years to life in prison for killing her 7-month-old son. The 5-year-old and was living with his grandmother when the shooting occurred.
