CINCINNATI (AP) — Former three-term Cincinnati mayor Roxanne Qualls will run again in 2013.
Qualls announced her bid on Thursday, saying she can continue helping Cincinnati move forward. She was accompanied by Democratic incumbent Mark Mallory, who isn't eligible to run again after his second four-year term.
Democratic former city councilman John Cranley has also said he will run for mayor in a race expected to draw a crowded field.
Qualls was first elected to city council in 1991 and was mayor from 1993 to 1999. The Democrat studied at Harvard University and taught at Northern Kentucky University before returning to city council in 2007. She serves as vice mayor.
