COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Police say a man is hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after the car he was driving plunged into a pond at a Columbus apartment complex.

Emergency dispatchers received a report at about 10:15 p.m. Sunday that a car had gone into the pond at the Bent Tree Luxury Apartments on the city's northwest side.

Fire Battalion Chief Patrick Ferguson tells the Columbus Dispatch (http://bit.ly/WDb5Te ) that rescue divers pulled the man from the vehicle almost an hour later.

The man, whose name was not released, was taken to Riverside Methodist Hospital.

It's not clear exactly how the car wound up in the pond.
