Delta Health Center receives $1.3M grant

MOUND BAYOU, Miss. (AP) — The Delta Health Center Inc. in Mound Bayou has received $1.3 million in operating funds from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Officials tell the Bolivar Commercial (http://bit.ly/SkXJew) that the money represents six months of funding. They say another award in the same amount is expected in six months.

They say the money will go toward patient services and salaries of doctors and staff.

The center was founded in Mound Bayou in 1965 and provides primary and preventive health services at three other sites — Cleveland, Greenville and Moorhead.

The center is building a new medical facility in Mound Bayou funded with $5 million federal grant. Work started earlier this year. When completed, it will provide family medicine, internal medicine, OB/GYN, pediatrics and related diagnostic services.
