Pagano nearing end to chemotherapy treatments

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Colts interim coach Bruce Arians would like to see head coach Chuck Pagano at Lucas Oil Stadium on Sunday.

He's just not sure it will happen.

Arians told reporters Monday that Pagano is expected to finish his third and final round of chemotherapy Tuesday, and that doctors will then determine whether Pagano's white blood-cell counts are high enough to let him attend the game against Tennessee.

Pagano has taken an indefinite leave after being diagnosed with leukemia Sept. 26. Since then, he has completed two rounds of chemo and began a third late last week. His physician says the illness is in "complete remission."

Indy (8-4) has gone 7-2 without Pagano and has set the Dec. 30 regular-season finale against Houston as the target date for Pagano's return to the sideline.
