CINCINNATI (AP) — The University of Cincinnati is looking at ways to prevent crime on the urban campus and surrounding communities.
A campus safety summit at the university this past week included local law enforcement officials, city government representatives and university leaders.
Cincinnati President Santa Ono said in Friday memo to employees and students that summit participants have agreed to meet regularly in an effort to promote safety.
One initiative from the summit will be a 30 percent increase in the number of university police officers on patrol beginning Jan. 1. University police also will study the impact of using a mobile substation to increase police visibility in targeted areas.
University of Cincinnati and city police also will provide a joint safety presentation at student orientation.
