COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — A hospital in Columbus is helping families modify toys so that they can be used by children with disabilities.
Workers at Nationwide Children's Hospital showed about 25 families on Saturday how to make toys with small switches and buttons easier to navigate.
The Columbus Dispatch (http://bit.ly/VdXDEh ) reports that this is the second year the hospital has put on the program.
A Chicago organization that helps families with disabled children and works with manufacturers to adapt toys says one in five children has a disability or special need.
One parent at the hospital's program in Columbus says it's tough to find toys for her son and that she often has to put his hands on a toy so he can play with it.
