Wife of Fargo surgeon Norberg sues for malpractice

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — The wife of a Fargo surgeon has sued him for medical malpractice, just days after a jury found Jon Norberg not guilty of drugging and sexually assaulting her.

The Forum newspaper reports (http://bit.ly/U2l5D5) that the civil lawsuit was filed Friday on behalf of Alonna Norberg. She is seeking more than $50,000 in damages.

Jon Norberg says the lawsuit surprises him given the evidence brought forth during his trial on criminal charges of gross sexual imposition and reckless endangerment. The jury cleared him of those charges a week ago after a trial that lasted nearly three weeks.

The Associated Press typically doesn't identify the alleged victims in sexual assault cases, but Alonna Norberg has spoken publically about the case.
