BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A North Dakota program that collects unused medication to help fight prescription drug abuse has destroyed more than 1,000 pounds of Oxycontin and other drugs.

Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem (STEHN'-juhm) says the drugs collected through the Take Back program in the past six months were burned last week.

The program was launched about three years ago and has collected almost two tons of unused medication. Disposal containers are located at police departments and sheriff's offices across the state.
