COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — TV host and former zookeeper Jack Hanna will be the speaker for Ohio State University's commencement next month.
About 2,800 students are expected to get degrees at the Dec. 16 ceremony in the Jerome Schottenstein Center.
Hanna is director emeritus of the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium and was the zoo's director from 1978 through 1992. He and his animals have been regular guests on national television shows for more than 25 years. Some of those shows include the "Late Show with David Letterman" and "Good Morning America."
Hanna began hosting a nationally syndicated "Jack Hanna's Animal Adventures" television series in 1993. His newest series, "Jack Hanna's Wild Countdown," debuted last year.
Ohio State President Gordon Gee says Hanna has inspired generations with his dedication to conservation, education and public outreach.
