LONDON (AP) — As a kid, Chris Pine used to be afraid of the bogeyman. Now he fights one on the big screen.

The American actor voices Jack Frost in the Dreamworks animated film "Rise of the Guardians."

Directed by Peter Ramsey, Frost is recruited by Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny to help defeat a bogeyman called Pitch.

Pine admits to once being scared of the dark: "I don't know any kid that's not afraid at some point going to bed with the lights off. That's why they make nightlights."

Asked if he could sleep now with the lights off, Pine joked "not really" but says he's trying to get there.

"Rise of the Guardians" also features Alec Baldwin, Hugh Jackman and Jude Law. It opens in the U.S. on Nov. 21.
