PRAGUE (AP) — Two-time Olympic javelin champion Barbora Spotakova says she will miss next season because she is pregnant.
The Czech made the announcement on Tuesday alongside her boyfriend Lukas Novotny.
The 31-year-old Spotakova is planning to return to athletics in 2014 and retire after the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
She won't compete at the 2013 world championships in Moscow or any of the Diamond League meets.
Spotakova successfully defended her Olympic javelin title in London.
The world record-holder says she is due at the beginning of summer.
