WASHINGTON (AP) — The spokesman for House Majority Leader Eric Cantor says Cantor first heard about CIA Director David Petraeus' extramarital affair on Oct. 27 from an FBI source he didn't know.

Communications director Rory Cooper told The Associated Press on Monday that the call was arranged by Rep. Dave Reichert, a Washington Republican. Reichert had initially received a tip from an FBI source who was a colleague of the FBI employee who called Cantor.

The following Wednesday, Oct. 31, after the government reopened following Superstorm Sandy, Cantor's chief of staff called the FBI chief of staff to inform him of the call. The FBI official called back the next day, saying that he couldn't confirm or deny an investigation.
