COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — The president of Ohio State University is getting a pay increase and a bonus of about $330,000.

Ohio State's board of trustees on Friday approved a $25,000 pay increase that will bring the base salary of President Gordon Gee (gee) to nearly $860,000 a year.

The board also approved a 40 percent performance bonus that will come from a fund created from private donations. Board members praised his fundraising efforts and other projects that have brought in more money for the school.

Gee is among the highest paid public university presidents in the country with an overall package of around $2 million per year.

He's been at Ohio State the last five years. He also was the school's president from 1990 to 1997.
