DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — A man has pleaded guilty to murder for fatally shooting a Central State University football player at a southwest Ohio nightclub last year.

A Montgomery County prosecutor's spokesman said Monday that 31-year-old Jason Shern of Dayton pleaded guilty to the murder of CSU player Kordero Hunter and to three counts of felonious assault with a deadly weapon and two weapons counts. The spokesman says Shern could be sentenced to 15 years to life in prison.

Authorities said a fight broke out Sept. 23, 2011, inside the Dayton nightclub and several people were escorted outside. Police said Shern began shooting while outside, killing Hunter. Three others were injured.

Hunter, of suburban Chicago, was a defensive back at the university in Wilberforce near Dayton.

Shern's attorney did not immediately return calls Monday.
