Ohio court could hear H.S. football playoff cases

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Conflicting court rulings over high school football playoff slots could punt the case to the Ohio Supreme Court.

At issue is uncertainty over what teams will play each other in a pair of northeastern Ohio communities in the playoffs that begin this weekend.

The (Cleveland) Plain Dealer reports Friday (http://bit.ly/Wfdgln ) that St. Edward High School does not yet know its Division I regional quarterfinal opponent or whether it has the weekend off while a case over a forfeited game works its way through the courts.

The paper says Brookfield in Trumbull County is facing the same dilemma.

A Supreme Court spokesman said Friday the cases hadn't reached the court yet.
