PHOENIX (AP) — State health officials say Maricopa County has confirmed its first case of flu this season.
The Arizona Department of Health Services and the county Department of Public Health says the flu victim is an unvaccinated woman in her late 50s who didn't need hospitalization.
Officials said Friday that it's still unknown how bad this flu season will be, but they encourage Arizonans to get a flu shot.
This year's vaccine protects against three different flu viruses.
Arizona had 4,000 flu cases last year with one reported death.
