JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) — The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation says a company is recalling bags of carrot chips distributed in Alaska.
Bolthouse Farms is recalling 16-ounce bags of Bolthouse Farms Carrot Chips.
The company says routine sampling showed the possible presence of Salmonella.
The bags say they are best if used by Nov. 12, 2012, or Nov. 13, 2012.
They carry the numbers 04 T XXXX BF 212 J11 UPC 71464 17209 or 04T XXXX BF 212 J 12 UPC 71464 17209.
No illness from the chips has been reported in Alaska or other locations.
Salmonella is can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail people or those with weakened immune systems.
Infected healthy adults often experience fever, diarrhea nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.
