NEW YORK (AP) — New York City's subways are set to roll again three days after Superstorm Sandy caused the worst disaster in the system's history.
The city is taking a critical step in its recovery from the superstorm that has killed more than 70 people and left millions without power in the eastern U.S.
Undamaged parts of the subway are to begin running at 6 a.m. Officials said to expect delays. There still won't be much service to downtown Manhattan, where tunnels remains flooded.
New Yorkers took gradual steps to return to normalcy Wednesday, opening the stock exchange, Broadway theaters and two of the region's three airports.
States from New Jersey to West Virginia are still assessing damage. President Barack Obama toured the ravaged Jersey Shore yesterday with Gov. Chris Christie.
