HOUSTON (AP) — Texas regulators are investigating a vendor after 11 Rice University students at an on-campus party had to be treated for alcohol poisoning.
Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission spokeswoman Carolyn Beck on Wednesday declined to release the name of the vendor. Beck says the TABC is investigating whether the company selling the alcohol violated the law.
Rice officials have said more than 1,000 people attended Saturday's "Night of Decadence" Halloween party sponsored by the Wiess College dormitory. Organizers have said alcohol was available for students of legal drinking age, which is 21 years old.
Eleven students were treated and released from a hospital early Sunday. Their names and ages haven't been released.
Students organize the annual party at the school in Houston.
