NY Blood Center seeking donors

Wednesday October 31, 2012 1:45 PM

NEW YORK (AP) — The New York Blood Center is appealing to New Yorkers to donate blood.

It says donors are needed to replenish the platelet and blood supplies in the wake of the storm.

It says platelets only have a shelf life of five days.

The center normally operates 45 blood drives a day. There have been far fewer due to the storm.

Information on how to donate blood or how to organize a blood drive can be obtained by calling 1-800-933-2566 or visiting the New York Blood Center at www.NYbloodcenter.org .
