80 CHARRED HOMES AFTER NY FIRE - An aerial view shows the widespread destruction after a fire destroyed 80 to 100 buildings in a tiny beachfront neighborhood told to evacuate before Sandy hit New York. See Regional - East.

BREEZY POINT - After being hit hard by the superstorm, a fire destroyed 80 to 100 homes in the Queens neighborhood of Breezy Point.

BELLEVUE HOSPITAL EVACUATIONS - The Fire Department says it is helping Bellevue Hospital evacuate some patients.

HALLOWEEN IN MANHATTAN - With a portion of the city still without power, families are attempting to celebrate Halloween by trick or treating.

STEAK HAND OUT - A restaurant in the Meat Packing district is handing out steaks after damage caused by Sandy.

HOW SUPERSTORM SANDY COULD AFFECT THE ELECTION - One week before a close election, superstorm Sandy has confounded the presidential race, leading many to ponder whether the election might be postponed.

CAMPAIGN - President Obama travels to New Jersey to tour the devastation left in the wake of Sandy. Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney will attend multiple campaign events in Florida.

AL, ANIMAL SHELTERS 'SPOOKED' BY HALLOWEEN - Some animal shelters in Alabama said they aren't offering black cats for adoption this week, despite a growing view among protection groups that the threat of abuse during Halloween is an urban legend.

FL, CHALK ART FESTIVAL - Hundreds of artists from around the world have descended on Sarasota, Florida next week for the annual Chalk Art Festival.

GA, CDC MENINGITIS UPDATE - The CDC gives the AP an update on the fungal meningitis outbreak that has had widespread impacts throughout the country.

AZ, BEES ATTACK HIKERS; 1 DEAD, 2 HURT - Two hikers were rescued from the Arizona desert after bees attacked them. A third man died after falling 150 feet during the attack.

INDIA UNEMPLOYEMENT - India's population of more than a billion people is expected to overtake China by around 2030. MACEDONIA MAKEOVER - Macedonia's capital has undergone a radical facelift, which isn't pleasing everyone. Skopje is the birthplace of Alexander the Great, but he's not the only historical celebrity honored in the 21st century.

AUSTRALIA TURTLE - Australian conservationists are celebrating the successful reintroduction of a 100-year-old turtle into the wild. But wildlife workers and community members are concerned that the turtle population numbers are taking a dive.
