TWIN FALLS, Idaho (AP) — A Buhl woman who is charged with holding a fundraiser while falsely claiming her daughter had cancer is now facing charges that she faked a pregnancy to seek financial help.
The Times-News reports (http://bit.ly/RtEK0D ) 44-year-old Lisa Holley was charged with felony theft by deception last week. She says she is scheduled to make an initial court appearance on Wednesday.
Prosecutors allege Holley told a church pastor she needed financial help because she was pregnant with triplets and received $1,400 in money or merchandise.
Holley tells the Times-News she has a doctor's statement saying she was pregnant, but miscarried. However, prosecutors say they checked records at hospitals in Twin Falls and Jerome and found nothing to indicate Holley was pregnant. Holley says investigators looked at the wrong hospitals.
