SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — After about two weeks back on the job, San Francisco's sheriff says the domestic violence case that ended in his criminal conviction and nearly forced him out of office does not create any conflicts of interest as he does his duties.

Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi said during an interview with The Associated Press that he would not accede to demands by the district attorney that he recuse himself from any domestic-violence-related programs in the county's jails.

Mirkarimi is serving three years of probation for a conviction stemming from a New Year's Eve argument with his wife, Venezuelan actress Eliana Lopez.

Mirkarimi was reinstated earlier this month after the Board of Supervisors voted against upholding official misconduct charges.
