COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Former White House press secretary Bob Gibbs has made an endorsement in Ohio's 7th congressional district — and it's not Bob Gibbs.

The Bob Gibbs who was President Barack Obama's White House press secretary endorsed Democrat Joyce Healy-Abrams on Monday in her bid to unseat the Republican incumbent who shares Gibbs' name.

The former-spokesman Gibbs said Healy-Abrams is the better candidate to create jobs and end Washington gridlock.

The name play provided a rare flicker of humor in the battleground state, where Obama and Republican Mitt Romney are fighting for Ohioans' votes and the airwaves are full of negative political ads.

U.S. Rep. Bob Gibbs is favored to beat Healy-Abrams in a newly-drawn northern Ohio district that leans Republican. The GOP-crafted district spans all or part of 10 Ohio counties.
