NYSE CLOSES FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 11 YEARS - U.S. stock markets are closed as Hurricane Sandy nears landfall on the East Coast are likely to remain closed Tuesday. The last time the New York Stock Exchange had an unplanned closing since the terrorist attacks of September 2001. See National.

LONG ISLAND TOWN DELUGED WITH SEAWATER - On the eastern edge of Long Island, the fishing town of Greenport, New York, was already deluged with seawater, with one street almost completely underwater. Planning On Covering

EVACUATION CENTERS - From New York to Washington, evacuation centers have been set up to keep residents safe as Hurricane Sandy approaches.

TRANSPORTATION DELAYS AND CLOSURES - New York City and Washington, D.C. have halted metro services and airports throughout the region are keeping their planes grounded. The AP is gathering elements from various airports throughout the country, showing the impacts Hurricane Sandy is having nationwide.

CONSTRUCTION CRANE INCIDENT WATCH - A construction crane is dangling off of a high rise in Manhattan. The fire department was called to the scene and the streets were cleared. The AP is watching this location as the storm continues to advance.

CAMPAIGN - The campaign is also being affected by Hurricane Sandy. Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney was poised to make a last minute push before election day. President Obama will return to the White House today after a trip to Florida. Romney will attend campaign events in Ohio and Iowa. See National and Regional - Central.

EAR ON THE BALL: BLIND KIDS PLAY TENNIS - Students at the California School for the Blind are learning to play a form of tennis adapted for the visually impaired. Turning their ears into eyes, these budding tennis players are expanding the boundaries of what the blind can do.

NY, BLOOMBERG: NYC SCHOOLS CLOSED AGAIN TUESDAY - Mayor Michael Bloomberg says New York City schools will remain closed on Tuesday because of Hurricane Sandy. Mayor Bloomberg reiterated that residents in low-laying should still evacuate if they are able. AVAILABLE NOW.

AZ, SKYDIVING CHAMPIONSHIPS - Skydive Arizona is hosting the 2012 U.S. Parachute Association National Skydiving Championships where more than 500 aerial athletes will compete in multiple events in various forms of skydiving.
