GREENVILLE, Miss. (AP) — The Delta Cotton Belles surpassed its goal in fundraising to pay for mammograms for local residents.
The Delta Democrat Times reports (http://bit.ly/XUmgcI ) a benefit tennis tournament earlier this month raised $51,000.
That more than doubled the goal of $25,000, said organization president Mimmie McKnight Fisher.
The money will be used for mammograms for local women in efforts to fight breast cancer and also will help with transportation costs to clinics.
