More Asian-Americans bidding for congressional seats

Sunday October 28, 2012 6:15 AM

WASHINTON (AP) — The number of Asian-Americans running for congress hit a record high this year.

The result will be that several states could get their first Asian-American members of congress when the votes are counted in a little more than a week.

Gloria Chan of the Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies says part of the reason is the big increase in Asian-American population.

She also says it's because they're becoming more involved in their communities.

Asians have now passed Latinos as the largest group of new immigrants.
