NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Mary Mary and Charles Jenkins are the top nominees for the Stellar Gospel Music Awards.
Mary Mary earned nine nominations, Jenkins had eight and Marvin Sapp and Fred Hammond scored six Friday morning when show co-host Kirk Franklin announced nominations in a YouTube video.
Sapp, Jenkins & Fellowship Chicago, Andrae Crouch and Donald Lawrence and Company received nominations for top honor artist of the year. Jenkins is also up for new artist and CD of the year.
The show will feature performances by Sapp, Jenkins, Tamela Mann, Israel Houghton, Tye Tribbett, Le'Andria Johnson and others.
The 28th annual Stellar Awards will be held Jan. 19, at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, Tenn. Erica Campbell of Mary Mary co-hosts with Franklin.
