Ohio teacher fired over pot growing in her house

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — A central Ohio school board has decided to fire a veteran teacher whose teen son reported a pot-growing operation in the family's basement in August.

The Columbus Dispatch (http://bit.ly/PRYCxx ) reports that the Olentangy (OH-len-tan-gee) school board voted Wednesday to terminate the fourth-grade teacher.

An attorney for the 48-year-old woman said she'll challenge the firing. The attorney said she had no idea her husband had grown marijuana in a locked room where they lived with their three children.

Nobody has been charged with a crime, but the district claims she either knew or should have known that the drug was being grown in her home.

On Aug. 20, their 16-year-old son reported that his father had been growing marijuana and that his parents had kicked him out of the house.
