FAYETTEVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Police in Alabama and Tennessee are searching for links in the deaths of five adults and an 18-month-old boy whose bodies were found in four separate locations.

The discovery of the six bodies in two days presented a puzzling case for authorities.

The mystery began Monday, when police found a 22-year-old woman, her 18-month-old son, and a 21-year-old woman dead in a house near Fayetteville, Tenn. A 3-year-old was spared.

The father of the 3-year-old was found dead over the state line in Alabama, and a man believed to be an acquaintance was shot to death in Huntsville, Ala.

Police identified the father as Warren Vincent Crutcher. They said it didn't appear that he killed himself. But they wouldn't say how he, the women or the child were killed.
