TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — The Florida Ethics Commission has found probable cause that Miami Congressman David Rivera committed 11 violations of the law while serving in the Legislature.

The accusations made Wednesday against Rivera include receiving income that he knew or should have known was given to influence his vote or official action and using campaign funds for non-campaign expenses.

Rivera is also alleged to have had a business contract that would create a frequent conflict between his private interests and public duties.

The commission also found probable cause for six alleged financial disclosure violations and that he misused his position to request state reimbursement for travel and failed to report a debt.

Rivera is in a tight race for re-election and can seek a hearing on the charges. He has previously denied wrongdoing.
