BELLEVILLE, Ill. (AP) — The Food and Drug Administration has updated a list of facilities that may have received recalled products from a Massachusetts pharmacy linked to a multi-state outbreak of fungal meningitis, and Illinois now has more than 130 clinics and hospitals on the list.
Among them are two Belleville hospitals that are advising more than 200 patients to watch for signs of infection.
The Belleville News-Democrat reports (http://bit.ly/RkfVnV ) that St. Elizabeth's Hospital and Memorial Hospital are contacting patients who received medications produced by New England Compounding Center.
St. Elizabeth's is alerting 26 patients who received a cardioplegia solution during open heart surgery. Memorial Hospital is notifying 70 patients who had open heart surgery and 111 patients who had eye surgery, and received drugs from the Massachusetts pharmacy.
