DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) — Jurors have asked to take another look at the testimony of a University of Iowa law professor accused of leading the charge against the hiring of a conservative scholar because of differences of opinion about abortion rights.
Teresa Wagner's attorney, Steve Fieweger, says jurors deliberating Tuesday made several requests. One was to have the deposition of Randall Bezanson read to them as they consider Wagner's claim that she is the victim of political discrimination.
Jurors deliberated for about eight hours before leaving late Tuesday. They're to resume deliberations Wednesday.
As a law clerk, Bezanson helped draft the Roe vs. Wade decision that legalized abortion in 1973.
Wagner previously worked for anti-abortion groups.
