NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Representatives from several Tennessee congregations will join state health leaders and community partners to kick off an effort to encourage faith leaders to work together to help end childhood obesity.
A news conference planned for Tuesday will include members of the Tennessee Conference of The United Methodist Church, the United Church of Christ, the Georgia-Cumberland Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, United Methodist Men and the United Methodist Association of Preschools Tennessee.
The Campaign for Healthy Kids is working to support and expand grassroots participation in the Let's Move Faith and Communities initiative, a campaign started by first lady Michelle Obama.
Following the news conference at West End United Methodist Church, a child care workshop will explain how to help children get their best start with physical activity and nutrition.
