CINCINNATI (AP) — The University of Cincinnati will soon have a new president, possibly some time Tuesday.

A search committee last week recommended Ono as permanent president. The UC board of trustees meets Tuesday, although choosing the president isn't on its official agenda.

The 49-year-old Ono is a native Canadian who came to UC as provost two years ago from Emory University, where he held several positions He is a professor of pediatrics within UC's College of Medicine and also is a professor of biology.

If named permanent president, Ono would be the 28th at the school of more than 42,000 students.
