JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Authorities in Duval County say they've confirmed another case of West Nile virus.

Health officials on Monday said the latest victim is a 39-year-old woman, bringing the total number of cases in the Jacksonville area this year to 26.

West Nile virus is a mosquito-borne illness that can develop into a severe illness.

Symptoms include high fever, headache and muscle weakness. Authorities say symptoms could last several weeks and that neurological effects could be permanent.
