BECKLEY, W.Va. (AP) — Bluefield State College is expanding its associate degree nursing program in Beckley.

The college will accept an additional 10 students for the 2013 program.

The West Virginia Board of Examiners for Registered Professional Nurses approved the expansion last week.

School of Nursing and Allied Health dean Angela Lambert tells The Register-Herald (http://bit.ly/XBb1pl ) that the expansion will address a shortage of nursing education opportunities in the region.

The college also is accepting applications for the program at its Bluefield campus.
