TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say more than 30 people were hurt when the floor collapsed during a party at an apartment building in Florida.

Police spokeswoman Anitra Highland tells the Tallahassee Democrat (http://on.tdo.com/RN3xMb ) that no one died when the floor collapsed just after 1:20 a.m. Sunday. She described most of the injuries as "broken bones and sprains."

The floor's collapse dropped partygoers from the second floor to the first floor in the Seminole Grand Apartments' clubhouse.

A Florida A&M University student at the party says the collapse was "like riding a roller coaster with no seat belts."

Highland says a dozen people were taken to hospitals with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
