WEST CHESTER, Ohio (AP) — Work is under way to build a major athletics complex in southwest Ohio.

Ground has been broken for a project to build sports fields over 100 acres at Voice of America Park. There will be soccer, baseball, softball and cricket fields in the next few years.

The park is in West Chester Township north of Cincinnati and near Interstate 75. The Cincinnati Enquirer reports (http://cin.ci/Qs8quT ) that Butler County parks and visitors officials envision the complex as a venue for regional and national tournaments that could draw visitors bringing millions of dollars into the local economy.

An amphitheater and other buildings are planned. The complex could be completed in five to six years, depending on economic conditions. Funding is coming from park user fees, a park levy and the visitors bureau.
