SYDNEY (AP) — Australian media reports say former England cricket captain and high-profile television commentator Tony Greig has been diagnosed with lung cancer.

The Sunday Telegraph said Greig underwent tests this month after failing to recover from a suspected bout of bronchitis. Doctors discovered a small lesion on the base of his right lung which proved cancerous.

South African-born Greig told the newspaper "I have had a few scrapes in my life and this is another one. (My wife) Vivian and I are going to put the boxing gloves on and fight this like we've never fought anything before."

Greig will undergo further tests next week to determine the extent of the cancer and a course of treatment.
