Here are the top five highest-paid prison doctors and nurses working under the health care receiver appointed by a federal judge. The salaries are for 2011 and were compiled by the state controller's office.

DOCTORS

— David Mathis, physician and surgeon, California Medical Facility, Vacaville: regular pay, $239,572; other pay, $169,548; allowances, $1,264; total pay $410,385.

— Christopher Ronnau, physician and surgeon, California Institution for Men, Chino: regular pay, $239,572; lump sum pay, $138,304; total pay $377,877.

— Julian Kim, physician and surgeon, California State Prison, Corcoran: regular pay, $239,572; other pay, $131,252; allowances, $314; total pay $371,138.

— Vache Chakmakian, physician and surgeon, Ironwood State Prison, Blythe: regular pay, $239,572; other pay, $114,538; overtime pay, $4,534; total pay $358,645.

— Jeffrey J. Wang, physician and surgeon, California State Prison, Corcoran: regular pay, $239,572; other pay $118,365; allowances, $36; total pay $357,974.

NURSES

— Grace Cho, registered nurse, California State Prison, Sacramento: regular pay, $96,887; other pay, $1,628; overtime pay, $129,629; allowances, $402; total pay $228,547.

— "Lump sum pay" means payouts for overtime, vacation, or sick leave that is owed to an employee leaving state employment.

— "Allowances" refers to vehicle mileage, vehicle allowances, uniform allowances and salary advances.
