SAO PAULO (AP) — Atletico Mineiro defender Rafael Marques spent the night in the hospital after collapsing on the field following a collision with a teammate in a Brazilian league match.

Tests on Thursday showed Marques had no serious injuries.

In Wednesday's match against Santos at Vila Belmiro Stadium, the heads of Marques and teammate Leonardo Silva collided while going for a ball crossed into the area and the defender immediately went down, apparently unconscious. It took nearly 10 minutes until doctors were able to remove him from the field because the ambulance's entrance to the pitch was blocked.

Ronaldinho and Santos' Neymar were among players calling for help.
