US Senate candidates Brown, Mandel in 2nd debate

Thursday October 18, 2012 3:15 AM

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Democratic U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown and Republican challenger Josh Mandel are ready to hold the second of their three campaign debates.

The expectation is for a lively night since the two exchanged insults in their first meeting over issues that have played out on a barrage of TV commercials in what is one of the most costly and closely watched U.S. Senate races in the country.

The two planned to debate Thursday in Columbus at 8 p.m.

The auto bailout was a highlight of the first debate earlier this week, with Mandel saying he wouldn't have supported it and Brown reiterating his backing of the plan.
